D. JEROME (born Devonté Jerome Wells) is a Broadway performer, choreographer, creative director, and educator from Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He began his artistic training at the North Carolina School of the Arts and the American Boychoir School in Princeton, New Jersey, where he developed the musical foundation and confidence that launched his professional career.

Most recently, D. Jerome captivated audiences as the groundbreaking Tinman in the acclaimed First National Tour of The Wiz. He also appeared in the Broadway hit MJ the Musical and toured nationally with the First National Tour of Hamilton (Angelica Tour). Considered a formidable triple threat, he has collaborated with Tony Award-winning legends George Faison and Debbie Allen. His screen credits include Haunted Mansion (Disney), TURN (AMC), and My Big Fat Fabulous Life (TLC). Regional theatre highlights include Hairspray at The Muny, The Color Purple, Gypsy, Once on This Island, and Dreamgirls, for which he received the Richmond Theatre Critics Circle Award for Best Supporting Actor.

Beyond the stage, D. Jerome has performed alongside acclaimed artists including Ann Nesby and Calvin Richardson and has worked with organizations such as the North Carolina Black Repertory Company, Greensboro Opera, the Atlanta Opera, The Hamiltones, Dominion Entertainment Group, and Charlotte Ballet, where he served as an assistant choreographer. An accomplished educator, he has created award-winning choreography for studios throughout the East Coast and is passionate about mentoring the next generation of artists.

In 2026, D. Jerome made his debut as Creative Director and Choreographer with Calling, an original work that premiered at the University of Arizona in Tucson. His work continues to inspire performers through a commitment to artistic excellence, authentic storytelling, and transformative education.
In recognition of his artistic achievements and lasting contributions to the performing arts, D. Jerome received an official Resolution from the City of Winston-Salem in 2025 and was honored as a 2026 Distinguished Alumni by the University of North Carolina at Greensboro’s College of Visual and Performing Arts.
